Self- praising

The first thing that came into my mind when Vivien presented for Language for Negotiation and Persuasion was how someone whom I know always show off to me recently. I just get to know her this semester and she has been showing off to me so many times it's really getting irritating.

I almost wish she was there to listen to Vivien. Then maybe she'll know the way to show off. Not by always self-praising or half-forcing people to agree with her self compliment.

It's not just me. I think the others are getting annoyed too. It's not like what she said is convincing. It doesn't sound convincing to me at all. And what's the purpose of showing off what her mum has done? Not exactly her own achievements anyway. It's understandable if it's just a couple of times; to show how proud she is of her mother. But surely not that many times. And also not until she has to tell us all the trivial matters which she exaggerated to make her sound good, smart and saintly.

Please do not repeat these again:
1. I'm becoming so popular in school
2. My Chinese writing is nice hor? (she repeated this at least twice when the listener pretend not to hear her)
3. My mum very 'geng' one (everytime she'll give many reasons as to why)
4. My house got many books...
5. My lecturer said only my presentation today is university level. The others are not.
6. My lecturer said bla bla bla (self praise) x10
7. My facebook picture nice hor? ( I can't bear myself to agree with her so I just kept my mouth shut)

I've never heard so many self praises in my life. Even her compliments to other people are not convincing anymore (yes, even her compliments on me)

Today's self compliment (quite indirect this time):
X : Jingyi, if your lecturer suddenly ask you to write a journal on the spot, how would you feel?
Me: (feeling suspicious) How would I feel?
X : (laughs) Yalor. Today my lecturer suddenly asked me if I can write a journal on the spot or not.
( I get her idea and try to shut off my brain)
X : bla bla bla ... I presented almost 40 minutes. My lecturer told me "Please la, X. Make it short." (laughs to herself) Because my presentation always very long. Everyone also told me that... My report ar...my lecturer likes my report (i think that's what I heard). I checked my English, grammar and all those stuff many times. I want to make sure nothing goes wrong...bla bla bla... (goes on)

Now I come to think of it, even if she's in our class listening to Vivien's speech, I don't think she'll realise she's self praising all this time.

I think only Irene knows who is it? Because I've been complaining abt her to Irene recently.. Not only because of this self praise...but also because of other matters. hehe!
